Investigation Division

The Investigation Division consists of 7
investigators who are responsible for a number of duties within the Sheriff's Department.
These duties include conducting on-scene investigations and follow-up investigations based
on Patrol Division reports. They also collect and preserve crime scene evidence.
Investigations are divided into categories such as property crimes, persons crimes,
computer crimes, death investigation, and narcotics crimes. The division also staffs an
evidence technician who receives and logs all evidence and seized property, to be securely
stored. Investigators average 750-800 open cases. Our detectives are educated
and well versed in criminal investigations. However, many crimes are solved with the help of
citizens of Jackson County.
Four of the deputies are assigned to a
multi-agency drug task force. They work with other local agencies as well as the DEA and
U.S. Customs conducting counter-narcotics operations.
